Mark Philippoussis and the ever-popular Mansour Bahrami will star in a Grand Opening Night at the Statoil Masters Tennis in matches to benefit the tournament’s 2013 charity, Best Beginnings.
In a special evening to launch the tournament at the Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday 4th December, Rafter, Henman, Rusedski, Philippoussis and Bahrami will all feature in singles or doubles matches. A private drinks reception will also be attended by tennis legends and sporting celebrities, with 20% of hospitality sales for the evening going to Best Beginnings, the child health charity.
“We are delighted to announce Best Beginnings as our charity for 2013, and to stage an opening night with so many big tennis names,” said Charlie Grave, Managing Director of IMG Sponsorship and Sales. “Rafter, Henman, Rusedski, Philippoussis and Bahrami are hugely popular, and their presence will help us to raise money for a very important cause.”
Alison Baum, Best Beginnings CEO said: “Best Beginnings is thrilled to have been chosen as this year’s charity. The money and profile raised on the night will help us to support more families across the UK and help them give their babies the best possible start.”
The Statoil Masters Tennis is part of the ATP Champions Tour – a circuit of former World Number One tennis players, Grand Slam singles finalists and Davis Cup winners – and is owned and operated by IMG, the global sports, fashion and media company.
VIP hospitality packages are available for The Grand Opening including a champagne reception that will also be attended by tennis legends and celebrities along with a gourmet dinner, to benefit the charity Best Beginnings. A percentage of ticket sales from the tournament will also go to the charity.
